Terms & Conditions for One.Trail

1. Introduction

Welcome to One.Trail. By booking or participating in any One.Trail activity, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. These rules are designed to ensure the safety, enjoyment, and sustainability of all trail experiences. Please read carefully before participating.

2. Important Notice

Walking in Big Five wilderness areas carries inherent risk. By participating in a One.Trail primitive trail, you acknowledge and accept all risks associated with the activity. This agreement applies to all One.Trail guides, contractors, employees, partners, and service providers.

3. Acknowledgement of Risks

Primitive trails take place in unfenced, wild Big Five areas, including the Kruger National Park and associated reserves. Participants should be aware that:

  • Dangerous animals, venomous snakes, insects, and other natural hazards may be present.
  • Terrain may include uneven ground, thick vegetation, river crossings, rocks, steep sections, and other obstacles.
  • Weather conditions may be extreme, unpredictable, or change rapidly.
  • Immediate medical assistance may not be available; evacuation may be delayed due to remoteness.
  • Camping is primitive: no fencing, permanent facilities, or electricity, limited water, and exposure to environmental risks.
  • Participation involves long walking distances, carrying personal gear, and physical exertion.
  • Trails may require night watches, camp duties, and appropriate responses to wildlife encounters.

By participating, you accept these risks and voluntarily choose to join the trail.

4. Health & Fitness

Participants should be physically and mentally fit for a multi-day primitive walking trail. It is essential to disclose any relevant medical conditions, allergies, medications, or disabilities to One.Trail prior to the trail. Failure to do so may result in removal from the trail without refund.

5. Travel Insurance & Medical Aid

Participants are responsible for ensuring that they hold appropriate medical aid, medical insurance, or travel insurance cover suitable for participation in remote wilderness activities.
International guests are strongly advised to obtain comprehensive travel insurance covering wilderness activities, emergency medical treatment, and medical evacuation, including helicopter evacuation where applicable.
Any medical treatment, evacuation, rescue, transport, hospitalisation, or related emergency expenses remain the sole responsibility of the participant.

6. Personal Responsibility

Participants are expected to:

  • Follow all instructions given by trail guides.
  • Stay with the group and comply with group safety protocols.
  • Maintain responsible behaviour and minimize noise around wildlife.
  • Refrain from unsafe or prohibited activities.
  • Use equipment responsibly and respect shared gear.
  • Abstain from alcohol or drug use during trail activities.
  • Accept responsibility for personal gear and belongings.

7. Indemnity & Waiver

One.Trail and its associated persons are not liable for injury, illness, harm, death, disability, loss or damage to property, wildlife encounters, environmental hazards, accidents, delays, cancellations, or incidents arising from negligence, behaviour, or transport. Participants waive any right to pursue legal action or compensation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, One.Trail shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, including but not limited to loss of income, travel disruption, additional expenses, or any other financial or economic loss.

8. Permissions & Consents

Participants consent to:

  • Guides making emergency decisions on their behalf if required.
  • Basic first aid being administered.
  • Emergency medical expenses, including evacuation, being their responsibility.
  • Use of photographs or videos taken during the trail for promotional purposes, unless objection is communicated in writing.

9. Trail Conditions & Cancellation

Trails may be suspended, altered, or cancelled due to safety concerns, wildlife activity, extreme weather, or park management directives. No refunds will be issued for:
